Happy Memorial Day! —a day to remember and celebrate the men and women who have fought for our freedom, and to honor their sacrifices.
While Memorial Day was originally created as a day to remember those who died in battle, it has grown into something much more important—a time for reflection, for appreciation for what we have been given, and for gratitude for all that we have yet to accomplish.
We have so much to be grateful for: the ability to make our own choices, the ability to vote in elections, the right to protest peacefully when things aren’t right… these are all freedoms that come at a cost. And although it’s easy to take them for granted, they’re not free—they come with sacrifices made by others on your behalf.
Let’s take this moment today as an opportunity to thank those who made it possible for us all.
